Rose, Cotton, Sugar Bowls and BCS National Championship Offer Service to Fans
DURHAM, NC – Replay Photos is bringing the FanCam to major Bowl Championship Series events in January, kicking off with the Rose Bowl on January 2 in Pasadena, California. The FanCam will also capture the Sugar Bowl on January 3, the Cotton Bowl on January 6 and the BCS National Championship on January 9.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with these four major Bowl games in bringing the FanCam experience to passionate college football fans,” said Sue Harnett, President and Founder of Replay Photos. “The organizations and sponsors we have partnered with value and appreciate the technology behind the FanCam, and are prepared to use it to its fullest potential for these significant championship games.”
Fans attending the Bowl Games are encouraged to be in their seats early because at that time, a 360-degree, high definition image will be taken from the field. Twenty-four hours later, fans can “step inside” the image and look around, as if they were standing on the field or at center court for a frozen moment of time prior to the highly anticipated games.
The resolution of 10-billion pixels is so high that fans can zoom around to find themselves or friends in their seats, “tag” themselves in the photo and share the view on Facebook, Twitter, or email.
In addition, fans will be able to create a commemorative custom photo by clipping an image of their favorite fan or themselves out of the crowd and placing that image on the video board. The photo can then be purchased as a print or custom framed photo and shipped straight to the recipient of their choice.
Replay Photos, founded in 2003, holds the exclusive FanCam license for college and professional sports in North America. The FanCam transforms a high-definition, crowd-centric image of a significant event into a social engagement theater that captures the community and connects that community with the passion, emotion and affinity of the moment.

CED, a private, nonprofit organization that promotes entrepreneurial efforts in North Carolina, has named 25 winners for the second annual North Carolina Companies To Watch awards, honoring growth-stage entrepreneurial companies that demonstrate high performance in the marketplace, exhibit innovative products or display other unique qualities that make them “worth watching.”
This year’s 25 winners will be honored at an awards ceremony September 21st in Bay 7 at the American Tobacco Campus in Durham.
“These companies exemplify the entrepreneurial spirit that leads to success in the marketplace even during challenging economic times,” said CED President Joan Siefert Rose. She noted that these companies collectively grew revenue by an annual rate of 32 percent between 2007-2010, and added jobs at an annual rate of 36 per cent during the same period. “CED is proud to recognize the accomplishments of all our 25 winners and their significant contributions to our state’s economy,” Rose said.
Replay Photos Secures Exclusive GigaPixel FanCam License
Verticals Include College and Professional Sports in North America
DURHAM, NC, June 5, 2011 – In the midst of an unstable economy, one North Carolina-based company continues to grow and thrive.
Meet Replay Photos (www.replayphotos.com), a company staffed with 15 sports-lovers, tucked in Downtown Durham’s historic Brightleaf Square. The company began in 2003 with an idea stemming from filing cabinets in Duke University’s Cameron Indoor Stadium. That idea – to license sports photography and sell it to consumers online – has blossomed into a multimillion dollar business.
Historically, Replay Photos has partnered with the top professional and collegiate teams to bring the best sports imagery to consumers. Most recently, Replay Photos secured the exclusive GigaPixel FanCam technology license for college and professional sports in North America.
The FanCam is a 360 degree, 5 billion pixel social media engagement platform. It combines the latest in GigaPixel technology with customized new media solutions to create a one-of-a-kind immersive experience for fans, whether or not they attended the game or event.
“Through our relationship with the Pittsburgh Steelers, we were introduced to a technology group from Cape Town, South Africa,” Sue Harnett, Replay Photos’ President and Founder, said. “The 2010 AFC Championship game at Heinz Field was the first FanCam to integrate photographic merchandise and allow fans to buy commemorative photos of themselves on the scoreboard. In addition, fans experienced the opportunity to tag themselves in the 360 degree image, and could share with friends via email, Facebook and twitter.”
The GigaPixel FanCam platform also offers custom sponsorship opportunities, interactive video, retail drivers, unique fan contests and merchandising.
“This is truly an exciting juncture for our company,” Harnett concluded. “To add the FanCam to our list of deliverables is a significant addition. It’s a captivating technology that allows our brands to take one more step in the direction of thoroughly understanding their fan base. It gives brands and sponsors the opportunity to gather data from their audience. One FanCam can dictate an entire six-month marketing and social media strategy.”
“We’re on the edge of discovery here. The FanCam’s capabilities feel limitless, and expanded functionality will be forthcoming. We are in the fortuitous position to offer this service to our brands.”
